What is asbestos encapsulation?
Asbestos encapsulation means sealing asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in place rather than removing them. Our trained experts will apply an asbestos sealer, which is a coating designed to bind the fibres and stop them from releasing into the air. Or, depending on the element, they may cover the material with a protective membrane instead.
However, encapsulation isn’t always the best option – where a material is damaged, deteriorating, or will likely be disturbed, removal is usually recommended.
Instead, asbestos encapsulation is a quicker, less disruptive and low-cost way to make ACMs in good condition safe.
