Land Remediation

If you’re a commercial property owner, developer or business and require the services of an asbestos land remediation professional, DACT Contractors can assist you.

Land is classed as a ‘contaminated state’ if pollution is in, on or under the ground that can cause a serious possibility of “relevant harm” to living organisms and ecosystems.

We can remediate asbestos-contaminated or derelict land across the North West, in areas including St Helens, Liverpool, the Wirral, Manchester, Preston and everywhere between.

DACT land remediation

What is land remediation?

Land remediation is the process of cleaning contaminated land and soils containing pollutants, such as asbestos, ensuring the area is safe to use or redevelop.

Asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) can find their way into soil as fragments, rubble or waste from demolished buildings – it’s very common on brownfield sites or former industrial or residential land that’s being cleared for redevelopment.

Early detection of asbestos-contaminated land is essential before groundwork begins, as it can prevent ACMs from being disturbed and polluting the soil across the site during excavation. Disturbing asbestos can also release harmful fibres into the air, exposing site workers and contractors to significant health risks. So, land remediation before any development work begins is essential to protecting people, property and the environment.

Our land remediation process

Our land remediation contractors follow a clear step-by-step process:

  • Free consultation and site assessment – After getting in touch with us, our experienced team will have an initial talk with you about the site you plan to excavate. We’ll then provide you with a bespoke quote and arrange a site visit.
  • Contaminated land survey and sampling – Our specialists will conduct a thorough inspection of the site and collect samples from the ground. If testing confirms the presence of asbestos, we’ll advise on the best course of action and plan the next steps with you.
  • Asbestos land remediation – If contamination is present, we’ll carry out a risk assessment before carefully removing, segregating, and transporting contaminated soil and materials to a licensed disposal facility. We’ll take care to minimise disruption to your site.

What can we remove?

DACT Contractors can remove and transport a range of contaminated elements, including:

  • Asbestos cement in soil and rubble
  • Asbestos litter and surface contamination
  • Construction waste containing ACMs
  • Contaminated soil requiring licensed excavation
